Holidays in Dorf Tirol - St. Peter

Dorf Tirol is located only 6 km from Meran at the entry to the Passeiertal Valley. The village enjoys about 300 days of sun during the year and therefore offers the ideal prerequisites for growing wine and palm trees. In the vicinity you find Tirol Castle with the Regional Museum for Culture and History.

The soirees taking place at Tirol Castle, and the international Minerals Exchange Market are popular highlights taking place every year. Furthermore, parades, concerts, and cultural events are organised.

Talking about natural beauty and a splendid panoramic view, you are talking about Dorf Tirol. The village is located in the valley basin at 600 m above sea level. The Texel Group Nature Park is located in immediate vicinity, and is believed to be one of the most beautiful Nature Parks in South Tyrol.

Enjoy 70 km of sign-posted hiking paths amidst an unspoiled nature, embedded in orchards and vineyards, splendid alpine pastures, traditional farms, clear lakes and snow-covered mountains.

Just above Meran you can visit the Botanic Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, a very popular excursion destination. In addition to the varied plants and trees in the gardens you can also enjoy some interesting events taking place here.

An interesting excursion destination are the ten Spronser Lakes located north-west from Dorf Tirol in the heart of the Texel Group Nature Park at 2500 m above sea level. They belong to the most important group of lakes in South Tyrol.

Dorf Tirol also offers numerous theme and walking paths like Tappeiner Path - Küchelberg - Thurnstein Castle – Tirol Castle – Gnaidweg Path - Schenna - Farmerkreuz – Auer Castle – Tyrolean Cross - Spronser Path – Tyrolean Cross – ancient irrigation channels - Finele River / Waterfall, and more.

You can of course also visit the Thermal Baths in Meran or enjoy a hike to Meran 2000 with cable cars and summer toboggan run, or visit some wineries and inns where you can enjoy a wine tasting.
